Motion Preview

Why slow down your shutter speed?
When you slow down the shutter speed the camera opens up enough to allow your camera's image sensor to see the movement.

What are the two primary ways to create motion in a photograph?
To either have your subject move or manually move the camera

Why use a Shutter Priority mode?
Shutter Priority Mode allows  you to set your shutter speed and where the camera chooses other settings to make your shot look well exposed.

What are three primary methods to compensate for long shutter speeds when there is too much light?
Small Apertures, Decrease your ISO, and try a Neutral Density Filter.

Beautiful Motion Blur Photos

Action Shots and Auto Focus Modes

From the Web site, what is a good starting shutter speed range (fastest to slowest) that you should start out with when attempting panning?    1/60 sec and 1/15 sec

From the video, why is the center auto focus point important for panning?
The center auto focus point is the fastest auto focus point on your camera, and it will help you get a better quality picture.
From the video, why should you use Continuous Drive mode of panning?
The Continuous drive mode lets the camera keep an auto focus, which will be easier for the photographer

One Shot versus AI Servo Auto Focus Modes

What does the "AI Servo" auto focus mode do?
The AI Servo auto focus mode focuses on the subject when its moving so you don't have to manually refocus.

What are the advantages of shooting in "AI Servo" auto focus mode for sports/action photography?
The AI Servo mode catches photos of sports action that you usually can't photograph manually.

What is Back Button Focus?

Why should you consider using Back Button Focus for action photography?                                       No more switching your lens to manual focus, No more refocusing every time you let go of the shutter, and Use Servo for almost all of your focusing needs

What are some of the challenges of Back Button Focus?
The BBF mode is usually used for motion pictures, unless you the AF-ON button your camera will just refocus until it finds something thats moving.
